I had asked him about whether i would be able to get a day off work because of an upcoming school event.

A text message isn t a proposal. Even if he does text you back it doesn t mean that he s declaring his love for you. He doesn t want to appear needy. It s one thing if someone texts me once and i don t reply so they send me a question mark or something to remind me to answer but it s another thing when they send ten short texts in a row.
